SABER West 2018
The second annual SABER West conference will be held at the University of California Irvine on January 13th and 14th, 2018. The meeting goals are focused on increasing collaboration between 2 year and 4 year faculty as well as STEM and Education researchers. The meeting will build on the success of SABER West 2017 and follow a similar structure with plenary talks, short talks, workshops, and posters.
We’ve already secured a fantastic pair of plenary speakers: Dr. Carl Wieman and Dr. Richard Arum. Dr. Wieman was the 2001 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics, is currently a Professor of Physics and of the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University, and is a strong advocate for STEM education and author of the 2017 book, Improving How Universities Teach Science. Dr. Arum is the Dean of the School of Education at UC Irvine and a Professor of Sociology and Education and is the author of many highly regarded texts examining higher education, including Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses.
