Susan will discuss some strategies for engaging students in active learning classes. She teaches Genetics to mainly juniors at UC Santa Cruz, and in that class has introduced strategies developed during an intensive teaching workshop at Indiana University and inspired by participation in one of the Summer Institutes on Undergraduate Education in Biology. She will share and discuss ideas for group work and student activities during class sessions and assessment of learning outcomes.
